Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Recently having celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a special tour and PBS special, the profoundly influential Nitty Gritty Dirt Band often is cited as a catalyst for an entire movement in Country Rock and American Roots Music. While “Mr. Bojangles” may have been their biggest charting hit, it was their 1972 groundbreaking “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” album that brought generations together.
With multi-platinum and gold records, multiple Grammy, IBMA, CMA Awards and nominations, the band's accolades continue to accumulate. Their 1972 "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" album has been added to the collection of the U.S. Library of Congress as well as the Grammy Hall of Fame. NGDB’s recording of "Mr. Bojangles" was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2014, "Fishin' In the Dark" was certified platinum for digital downloads by the RIAA. Known for their collaborations, NGDB has worked with everyone from Johnny Cash and the Carter Family to Opera House alums Doc Watson, Bruce Hornsby, Ricky Skaggs, and Roger McGwinn.
