S.C. State Fair/WLTX Eclipse Tailgate Party has international flare COLUMBIA – Aug. 17, 2017 – Guests from four countries and 32 states will converge at the S.C. State Fair Aug. 21 for the region’s historical total eclipse. More than 2,000 parking spots and roughly 75 RV spots have been reserved for the Total Eclipse Tailgate at the South Carolina State Fair with WLTX. Guests from Nova Scotia, Lithuania and Great Britain will join others from across the United States at the fairgrounds where U.S. travelers will come from as far away as Delaware, Connecticut and Massachusetts. “We are excited to open our grounds to visitors from across the country and the world to share this incredible event, said State Fair manager, Gary Goodman. “This is an excellent venue to take in the eclipse and enjoy the experience with family and friends.” Total Eclipse Tailgate at the South Carolina State Fair with WLTX will provide one of the city’s most unobstructed views of the eclipse and will feature parking, entertainment, food concessions and indoor restrooms. Cumulus Radio will broadcast live with a DJ and karaoke, and the “Concert Truck” will entertain guests with classical music. A limited number of Eclipse Safe Viewing glasses from the city of Columbia also will be available. The Aug. 21 eclipse will be the United States’ first total solar eclipse since 1979. Columbia will experience 2 minutes and 36 seconds of totality, beginning shortly after 2:30 p.m. The area will have one of the longest periods in the nation for seeing the sun completely eclipsed.
