Solar Eclipse 2017 at the South Carolina State Museum

The South Carolina State Museum will be hosting a weekend-long celebration of eclipse activities, exhibitions and shows all leading up to solar eclipse totality which occurs at 2:41pm on Mon., Aug. 21.

-General admission to 4 floors of permanent and changing exhibit galleries featuring South Carolina art, science & tech, natural history and cultural history. -Special astronomy and space exhibits. -Special eclipse education pop-up stations and tours. -Solar Eclipse glasses provided by SCE&G (in preparation for August 21, 2017) -Access to a special Planetarium Eclipse Show, Shadows from Space: When the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun, the world changes. Journey into space to see what causes this magnificent celestial display, which everyone here in Columbia will enjoy on Aug. 21, 2017. NEW ADDITION! Access to an evening planetarium show featuring a live musical performance by The Lovely Few. The band will perform their original music, which is space-themed, to choreographed visuals on the planetarium dome featuring planets, constellations, and an eclipse simulation. (Sat. and Sun. Only at 7 and 8 p.m., first come first served) -Access to the Robert B. Ariail Telescope Gallery and Boeing Observatory. -Access to a 4D theater movie showing of, The LEGO® Movie™ 4-D Experience® -Admission to the current blockbuster exhibition, Savage Ancient Seas
