LEVERAGING LITERACY, an afternoon reading program offered by the Salvation Army of Columbia, is 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. weekdays for the remainder of the school year at the Cecil A. Tillis Family and Training Center. The program is free and is for students in grades 3 – 6. Experienced teachers will provide small group and individual instruction. SKY HIGH SAFARI is open at Riverbanks Zoo. The three-story ropes challenge course includes more than 30 balance testing obstacles. Participants must be at least 48 inches tall to participate without parent supervision. All participants are tethered with a full-body harness and lanyard to an overhead tracking system. The course is open daily 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The cost in addition to zoo admission is $7 each, $5 each for individual and family members and $3 each for explorer, patron and gold members.
