Gel fuels used in fire pots pose risk of flash fires and burns
The Consumer Product Safety
Commission recommends that consumers stop using pourable gel fuels in fire
pots. In addition to nine recalls already issued, two additional types are
being recalled.
Bird Brain, Inc. is recalling about
1.6 million bottles and cans of Bird Brain Firepot Fuel Gel, Bird Brain Firepot
Citronella Fuel Gel and Bird Brain BioFuel Fuel Gel. Consumers should
immediately stop using the fuel and return it to the company for a full refund.

The Marshall Group is recalling
about 39,000 bottles of PatioGlo Bio-Fuel Gel. Consumers should immediately
stop using the fuel and return it to the company for a full refund. Call

According to the CPSC, gel fuel
fires are difficult to extinguish and flaming fuels can spatter. There is also
a serious risk of flash fire and burns when fuel is added to an already burning
pot. The CPSC reports two deaths and many serious injuries related to gel fuel.

B.O.B. strollers
pose choking hazards
B.O.B. Trailers, Inc. is recalling
about 411,700 single and double jogging strollers because the embroidered
logo’s backing patch can detach, posing a choking hazard. Consumers should
immediately stop using the strollers until they remove the backing patch.

Children’s tents
can break
IKEA is recalling about 58,000 Busa
folding children’s tents because the steel wire frame of the tents can break,
causing sharp ends to protrude through the fabric. Consumers should immediately
take the tents away from children and return the tents to IKEA for a full refund.

Drop-side cribs
can cause entrapment
Yu Wei is recalling about 8,000
Scroll and Lauren model drop-side cribs sold at J.C. Penney stores because the
drop-side rails can malfunction, detach or fall down creating a space in which
an infant can become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or
suffocation. Consumers should immediately stop using the cribs and contact Yu

find an alternate safe sleep environment for their child, such as a bassinet,
play yard or toddler bed, depending upon age.
Step stools found
to be unstable
Ballard Designs is recalling about
2,500 wooden Stafford step stools because plastic tabs on the feet of the
stools can make them unstable. Consumers should immediately remove the tabs.
